Cabbage Poriyal

Cabbage Poriyal - is a stir fry sabji which is one of the easiest, tasty and perfect lunch vegetable dish served with South Indian meals. I hardly make it, as it doesnt match up much with North Indian dishes, but I like this sabji a lot, so thought of sharing it s well.

Ingredients:
Cabbage 1 small.
Onion 1/2 small
Green Chili 1 slit
Salt as per taste
Oil 1 tbsp
Mustard Seeds 1 tsp
Urad Dal 1/2 tsp
Curry Leaves 4 - 5 
Freshly Grated Coconut 1 - 2 tbsp{as per liking}

Method:
Firstly wash and chop cabbage into long thin slices. Keep ready aside.

Thinly slice onion and keep ready.

Heat oil in a pan. Once hot, add mustard seeds, urad dal, green chili and curry leaves and saute.

Now add onion and saute until it turns color and becomes transparent.

Now add thinly sliced cabbage and close with a lid immediately for a minute or two.

Open it, add salt and sprinkle water and cover and cook for around 8 - 10 minutes, or until cooked.

Open and add the freshly grated coconut, mix well and switch it off.

Serve.

Note:
Channa dal can be added while tempering.

After adding coconut, switch it off, else coconut might start leaving its smell.
