Peas Pulav

Peas Pulav - one of the simplest, easiest one pot meal, made with just few ingredients and its liked by many.. The spices that goes to it, gives great aroma and flavor to the pulav. It tastes best when served with raita.

Basmati Rice 1 cup
Water 2 cups
Green Peas 1/2 cup {fresh or frozen}
Onion 1 big
Bay Leaf 1
Peppercorns few
Cinnamon 1 inch
Green Cardamon 1 or 2
Oil 2 tbsp
Ghee 1/2 tsp
Cumin Seeds 1 tsp
Salt as per taste

Wash and soak rice for 20 minutes. Drain and keep aside.

In a pan heat oil and ghee. Add cumin seeds, as it starts to crackle, throw in bay leaf, peppercorns, cinnamon, green cardamon and saute.

Now add onion and saute until it turns soft and transparent.

Now add peas and soaked rice and mix once.

Add water and salt.,
{Do a taste check at this point}.

Once water starts to boil, mix and cover and allow it to cook for almost 10 - 12 minutes.
{After 7 - 8 minutes, open once in between and check the rice}.

Open and allow it to rest for a while.

Serve with Onion raita or any gravy sabji.
